Recruiting an English–speaking assistant Position to be filled from 01/09/2020 to 30/06/2021

On December the 9th, 2019, the framework contract was signed between the University of Gdańsk and the Gdynia Employers' Association NORD. The agreement on the part of the University of Gdańsk was signed by the signature of JM Rector, prof. dr. hab. Jerzy Piotr Gwizdała on the part of GZP "NORD" - President Jerzy Szulist.

Saturday, November 30, 2019 marked the first visit of the Ambassador of Italy, Mr. Aldo Amati to the University of Gdańsk, where he met with both professors and students of Italian Studies. The lecture hall in the Modern Languages building where the meeting took place was filled to the capacity with Italiophiles.

On the 2nd of December the 1st Pomorski Staff Week has officially started with a welcome meeting hosted at UG. The guests were welcomed by Vice Marshal of the Pomeranian region - Mr. Leszek Bonna and UG’s Vice Rector for Research- Professor Piotr Stepnowski.

The 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings table for arts and humanities subjects highlights the universities that are leading across art, performing arts, design, languages, linguistics, literature, history, philosophy, theology, architecture and archaeology subjects.
This ranking uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the World University Rankings, but the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields. This year’s table includes 536 universities.

Meeting of authorities of the University of Gdansk and the University of Tripoli led by prof. Nabil S. Enattah, took place on June 17, 2019. During the meeting both parties presented their offer and signed the memorandum of understanding. The agreement provides scientific and educational cooperation. Cooperation includes students and academic staff exchange, organization of workshops, summer schools, language courses, conferences and scientific programs.

The Rector of the University of Gdańsk, Prof. Jerzy Gwizdała has been nominated for the title Personality of the Year in the category social and charity work. The competition is organised by the Dziennik Bałtycki. You may vote on the newspaper’s website until 12 February.

The University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk University of Technology are to establish a joint interdisciplinary and unique field of study – Distributed Energy Resources, and have signed an agreement to this effect at the University of Gdańsk.

Following the results of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019 by subject - Social Science, published in mid-October 2018, in which the University of Gdańsk took third place amongst Polish universities, the time has come to publish the ranking results in further disciplines.

In the category Arts and Humanities 2019 the University of Gdańsk can also boast third place amongst Polish universities and a place in the fourth hundred in general.
