Two Pomeranian universities, the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, have signed a letter of intent with regard to scientific cooperation and a consolidation of activities aimed at a federation or full integration. The letter was signed by the university rectors Prof. Jerzy Gwizdała, of the University of Gdańsk, and Prof. Marcin Gruchała of the Medical University of Gdańsk.

Sheffield

On 2 November 2017 the University of Sheffield in the UK hosted the Global Opportunities & Exchanges Fair with the aim of promoting universities from across Europe. Poland was represented by Patryk Wawrzkiewicz, a student at the University of Gdańsk’s Faculty of Law and Administration, currently on exchange in Sheffield as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

During the conference Social Responsibility of Science – challenges for academic and business environment co-organized by the Polish Ministry of Economic Development and Ministry of Science and Higher Education on 16th November 2017 in Warsaw, rectors of the Polish universities are going to sign a Declaration of Social Responsibility. On behalf of the University of Gdańsk  the document will be signed by Prof. Krzysztof Bielawski Vice-Rector for Development.

Politechnika Lwowska

On 26 September 2017 the University of Gdańsk hosted delegations from the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv and the Lviv Polytechnic National University. The visit was aimed at presenting proposals for joint research projects and options for cooperation in education.

NCAGE, NATO’s Commercial and Government Entity Code, is assigned as part of its Codification System to entities whose work may be related to defence activities in the broadest sense. The term ‘entities’ may include, amongst others, providers of such services as consultations, training sessions or scientific research.

Following a motion by the UG Students’ Parliament and the UG Doctorate Students’ Council, the Authorities of the University of Gdańsk have introduced changes with regard to the entry of students and doctoral students into the Baltic Campus of the University of Gdańsk in Gdańsk Oliwa and a waiver of the one-off fee for issuing an ID card.

Cooperation agreement between the University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre

Cooperation with regard to popularising science, knowledge and culture, exchanging experience in didactics and organising joint educational and cultural initiatives are amongst the areas of joint activities of the University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre as part of the cooperation agreement signed by both institutions.

The agreement was signed by UG Rector, Prof. Jerzy Piotr Gwizdała on behalf of the University of Gdańsk and by Prof. Jerzy Limon, Director of the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre.

The cooperation as part of the agreement will be coordinated:

UG graduates second highest earners

Graduates of the University of Gdańsk have come second among the highest earners in an annual salary ranking of graduates of state universities in the All-Poland Salary Survey prepared by Sedlak & Sedlak. Graduates of the University of Warsaw took first place, with students from the Jagiellonian University coming third. The report covers gross salaries earned in 2016 by graduates of second-cycle studies from 18 Polish universities. In 2016 the so-called median for graduates of second-cycle studies of the University of Gdańsk was 4,500 PLN.

As of 1 October 2017, a controlled system of entry into the grounds of the Baltic Campus of the University of Gdańsk in Oliwa will come into operation. From this date, entry into the Campus through all available gates will be possible by means of a contactless ID card placed behind the vehicle windscreen. In exceptional circumstances, entry may be possible by means of an intercom system which will connect the user directly with a University Guard operator.
