Interreg South Baltic

The Project “SEAPLANSPACE ─ Marine spatial planning instruments for sustainable marine governance”, headed by Associate Professor Dr hab. Dorota Pyć from the UG’s Faculty of Law and Administration, has received funding as part of the Interreg South Baltic Programme (Seed Money).

New UG project as part of the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development, Measure 3.1 "Competencies in Higher Education".

The aim of the project “W szkole Sokratesa” (At the school of Socrates) is to increase competencies concerning appropriate argumentation, critical and independent thinking, logic and heuristics through philosophy workshops organised for 90 pupils from six Tri-City secondary schools.

The Foundation for Polish Science has announced winners of the second competition organised as part of the FIRST TEAM Programme. Grants to a total value of nearly 14 mln PLN were awarded to seven young researchers. Among them is Dr med.

In the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities 2017, prepared by the Spanish company Cybermetrics Lab, the University of Gdańsk occupies 1164th place, at the same time 14th place amongst Polish universities and 1st in Pomerania.

The Foundation for Polish Science has announced the winners of its competitions as part of the HOMING and POWROTY programmes. Funding from the Smart Growth Operational Programme to a total value of 7.6 mln zł will go to ten young academics who will be able to implement their innovative R&D projects in Poland.

The coordinators of the Disciplines of the National Science Centre (NCN) have released the list of projects which qualify for funding as part of the competitions announced by the NCN on 15 June 2016:

On 9th December 2016, the Polish-French Commission for the ‘POLONIUM’ programme selected 21 projects from those submitted for completion in the years 2017–2018 (attachment 2 in Polish). One of these projects was “Research into the Population Dynamics of Mya Arenaria based on Ecological, Genetic and Biogeochemical Tools” from the UG’s Faculty of Oceanography and Geography.

The Baltic Blue Biotechnology Alliance (ALLIANCE) is still looking for  promising cases in the field of blue biotechnology in need of dedicated expert support for product and service development. Case partners will explore  new ideas with the potential to develop sustainable and innovative products from marine biological resources that are relevant to and for the benefit of the Baltic Sea Region (BSR).

Jantar

The University of Gdańsk’s song and dance group Jantar’s artistic journey has met with enormous success.  Jantar has won as many as three prizes at South Korea’s largest International Dance Festival ─ the Cheoan World Dance Festival 2016.

MNiSW

The Minister of Science and Higher Education has awarded academic grants to outstanding young scientists involved in high-quality research and who are able to demonstrate rich academic achievement at an international level. As a result of the 9th competition, 168 young scientists have been awarded grants to a total amount of nearly 32 million zł.

The winners will receive 5,390 zł a month for a period of up to 3 years. In this year’s competition, 1,137 applications were considered.
