 10:00 - 15:00: radioactivity display (level -1, ballistics laboratory)

 13:00 - 13:15: mini lecture by Dr Anna Mietlarek-Kropidłowska (room 1039)

 13:20 - 14:20: lecture by  Professor Grażyna Zakrzewska-Kołtuniewicz (room 1039)

“Up Close: An Exhibition organised to celebrate the Year of Maths” opened on 7th October 2015 in the main building of the University of Gdańsk Library. The centrepiece of the exhibition is an impressive 150-metre-long installation presenting the approximate value of π and made up of the first 600+ digits of π.

Professor Jerzy Błażejowski from the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk has been elected Chairman of the Polish Chemical Society for 2016-2018 and will be the first academic from Gdańsk to have held this honourable position.  PTChem authorities are elected every two years and the organisation’s aim is to promote the development of the chemical sciences and to disseminate knowledge of chemistry in society.

The Scientific Meeting of the Polish Chemical Society is the largest scientific event for Polish chemists. This year, the 58th Meeting will take place at the University of Gdańsk. We will be in conversation on Radio MORS with Professor Lech Chmurzyński, head of the organising committee, about the talks, meetings and discussions planned.

The Confucius Institute will open at the University of Gdańsk in the new academic year 2015/2016.  After several years of effort, Gdańsk now joins the élite group of four cities in Poland to run a Confucius Institute (the UG’s is the fifth).

The Deans and Student Councils of the UG’s Faculty of Management and Faculty of Economics would like to invite all students and employees to an Oxford-Style Debate.

The two teams to participate in the Debate will be made up of students of the Faculty of Management and the Faculty of Economics who will put forward their arguments for and against the following topic: Should assistance be made available to those with Swiss franc mortgages?

The Debate will be chaired by Jan Krzysztof Bielecki.

The 16th AMBERMART International Amber Fair 2015 took place between 27-29 August. Over 200 exhibitors participated in the event, including, as always since the fairs began, the University of Gdańsk’s Museum of Amber Inclusions.
