It is with great pleasure that we announce that the University of Gdańsk has been honoured with a ‘Green Laurel’ award by the Ekorozwój/EcoDevelopment Polish Chamber of Commerce –  for the creation of a modern research complex and for its academic achievement to the benefit of the Baltic.

Applications for a Fulbright Senior Award can still be sent up to 15 May 2016. Grants are intended for anyone with a doctorate who is an academic employee in a Polish institution of higher education or at another research and teaching facility.  The aim of the competition is to allot funds for individual research or research and teaching projects at American universities, non-profit research academies and some government institutions.

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has released the results of the Development and Internationalisation modules of the National Programme for the Development of the Humanities.  Amongst the winners are six professors from the University of Gdańsk. Five of them are from the Institute of Polish Philology and one from the Institute of Eastern-Slavic Philology. The latter is Professor UG, Dr hab.

Limon

Dziennik Bałtycki  has decided to honour the passions of people from Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot and has announced nominations for the 2015 Personality of the Year. Among the 24 people, or more precisely personalities, nominated from Gdańsk, is Professor Dr hab. Jerzy Limon from the Institute of English and American Studies and Director of the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre “for the theatre’s successful and varied first season”.

Professor Michał Horodecki from the UG’s Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Information Technology has joined the most outstanding Polish scientists to be honoured with the Minister of Science and Higher Education Award.

13 October 2015 saw the presentation of the Sopot Muse Award, given to Sopot residents for outstanding achievements in science and culture, and to young creators for a promising and successful start to their professional career.  The Patron of Sport and Patron of Culture awards were presented at the same time.

A decision has been reached following the  14th Bank Guarantee Fund (BFG) competition for the best MA thesis in the field of deposit guarantee schemes, the restructuring or structured liquidation of financial institutions, the regulatory infrastructure of the financial system, issues relating to the financial security of banks, and financial security.
