It is with great pleasure that we announce that the University of Gdańsk has been honoured with a ‘Green Laurel’ award by the Ekorozwój/EcoDevelopment Polish Chamber of Commerce – for the creation of a modern research complex and for its academic achievement to the benefit of the Baltic.
The ‘Green Laurel’ statuette is awarded to companies, institutions and local government units which are instrumental in promoting awareness of eco-development and which implement cutting-edge solutions in ecological investment. The competition is organised by the Ekorozwój/EcoDevelopment Polish Chamber of Commerce under the patronage of the Director of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection and the Head of the Regional Chairman’s Council of the Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
This year’s event was the eleventh ‘Green Laurel’ competition. There were fourteen award-winners in three categories: Companies and Institutions, Self-Government and Individual Prizes. The University of Gdańsk was recognised in the Companies and Institutions category for “the creation of a modern research complex and for its academic achievement to the benefit of the Baltic”.
The competition is aimed at regional self-governments, organisations, companies, as well as individuals involved in the implementation of ecological undertakings. Its purpose is to promote eco-development by rewarding the best business investments and enterprises which contribute as much to the improvement of living conditions as to the state of the natural environment.
