The 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings table for social sciences subjects assesses universities by their performance in communication and media studies, politics and international studies, sociology and geography subjects.

This year’s table includes 720 universities.

Foreign Languages Centre of the University of Gdansk offers summer and one-year Polish language courses. The aim of the courses is to prepare the participants to use the Polish language at the B1 level, which is a prerequisite for starting study programmes taught in Polish.

This year in the ninth edition of the ranking of universities completed by the CEOs of the largest Polish companies, the University of Gdańsk was placed second amongst classical universities, with the University of Warsaw occupying first position. Taking all universities into consideration, including economic and technical, the University of Gdańsk is ranked 11th and 12th, ex aequo with the Technical University of Gdańsk.

Academic Writing course

On 14 June 2017, the Senate Hall of the Rector’s Office saw the official ceremony ending the academic writing skills course organised for the University of Gdańsk employees. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr hab. Piotr Stepnowski, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, Dr hab. Maciej Michalski, associate professor and Dean of the Faculty of Languages, Dr Ewelina Gutowska-Kozielska, Deputy Dean for Students at the Faculty of Languages and Dr hab. Mirosława Modrzewska, associate professor and Director of the Institute of English and American Studies.

Summer course of polish language in Tricity gives an excellent opportunity to combine studying with leisure by the sea and exploring history and culture of Gdansk and its surroundings.

Chinese Law School 中国法 is an international project organized by the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Gdańsk in cooperation with, among others Chinese University in Beijing - China Youth University of Political Studies and Confucius Institute in Gdańsk.

Study in Pomorskie – an agreement concerning support for activities designed to internationalise and increase the competitiveness of Pomeranian academic centres and enhance the competitiveness of the region has been signed by the Pomeranian Voivodeship Regional Government and eight Pomeranian higher education institutions, the University of Gdańsk being one of the signatories.

Polish and Israeli students are due to familiarise themselves with Gdańsk’s social problems and search for innovative ways of solving them. The best projects have a chance of being implemented. This is the sixth time that the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Gdańsk and the European Solidarity Centre have hosted Polish-Israeli Innocamp workshops as part of the Leaders of Democracy project.
