NanoInformaTIX – another project for University of Gdańsk in Horizon 2020 Programme

The NanoInformaTIX project, prepared by a consortium comprising nearly 40 partners, will be implemented over a period of four years. The aim is to develop a computer platform to assist the design process of nanomaterials safe for humans and the natural environment, in line with the idea of safe-by-design. The implementation of the devised computer tools will make it possible to predict the toxicity of new nanomaterials as early as at the produc design level. In this way the newly developed approach will reduce the time and cost of experiments conducted and limit the research carried out on laboratory animals to a necessary minimum.

Head of the project for the University of Gdańsk will be Dr Alicja Mikołajczyk from the Laboratory of Environmental Chemometrics at the Faculty of Chemistry.

The budget of the entire consortium is 6 million EUR, with funding for the UG amounting to circa 220,000 EUR.
