Once again the University of Gdańsk has featured in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019, one of the most important global rankings of universities, published on 26 September 2018.
The university is one of only 12 Polish higher education institutions to feature in the ranking, amongst 7 universities and 5 technical universities, ex aequo in sixth place in the general ranking and fourth amongst classical universities.
It should also be noted that the University of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk University of Technology are the only Pomeranian universities to feature in the ranking (in the same place).
The ranking comprises a total of 1,258 universities from the entire world and considers 13 indicators which specify the effectiveness of a given university within the following five areas ─ scientific research, didactics, citation, cooperation with businesses and internationalisation.
In this year’s ranking, the first two places were taken by the renowned British universities, the University of Oxford coming first, followed by the University of Cambridge, with third place on the podium reserved for Stanford University from the United States of America.
