Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation Prof. Piotr Stepnowski hosted a representative of European Universities, Prof. Jose A. Munoz-Cueto from the University of Cadiz in Spain.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possibilities of future academic cooperation concerning the exchange of students, academic and administrative staff and joint activity with regard to research and publications.

During the course of the meeting Prof. Jose A. Munoz-Cueto presented various areas of research connected with the sea and supported and promoted by the Cei-Mar programme (Campus of International Excellence of the Sea). The discussion focused on the potential involvement of the University of Gdańsk, particularly the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography, in the project.

The guest also met with representatives of the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography and paid a visit to the UG’s research vessel, the Oceanograf.

The main objective of the Cei-Mar project is bringing together the academic, research and business environments and promoting education and research in various areas relating to the sea.
