The competition brought together two teams from Poland (AZS UG Futsal Ladies, UAM Poznań) and two from the United Kingdom (Liverbird Futsal, Manchester Futsal).
The Gdańsk team won two of three matches in the first phase of the tournament:
They played for the first place with their Poznań hosts and after an excellent and fierce match deservedly beat the Polish vice-champions 2:0. The victory in the tournament was doubled because for the first time in the history of both teams it was the Gdańsk team which emerged victorious. In addition, Wojciech Weiss, the manager of the women’s futsal national team selected AZS UGplayer Natalia Świętoniowska for the Polish Team at the Academic World Championships in Kazakhstan!
“I am extremely happy that Natalia has been noticed by the manager of the National Team. This is a great honour and an acknowledgment of the progress made by her and the entire team. I hope she beats my own fourth place at the 2006 Academic World Championships. It’s a fantastic adventure and a signal for the team that we are heading in the right direction”, commented the coach of the Gdańsk team Tomasz Aftański.
The Futsal Ladies team comprised:
