The University of Gdańsk’s Faculty of Languages and invited guests celebrated 40 years of Professor Wojciech Kubiński’s academic activity (Department of Translation Studies at the UG’s Institute of English and American Studies). The celebration, which included the celebrant being presented with a commemorative book “Pod Pretekstem Słów” (On the Pretext of Words) prepared in his honour, was a chance to exchange reminiscences and express thanks. Friends and colleagues stressed the Professor’s achievements in the field of linguistics, translation studies and practical translation. With great appreciation and gratitude they stressed his impact on the life of those who have crossed his path. Finally, the celebrant was honoured with a short concert by the band “Obsesja”. The celebration was held on 8 December 2017 at the Faculty of Languages of the University of Gdańsk.
