Between 19 − 20 October 2017, Opole witnessed the annual Academic Sport Gala which summed up the academic sports year 2017/2018. Awards were given to the best sportswomen and sportsmen as well as AZS clubs. Amongst those awarded was the University of Gdańsk AZS Club which came third in the Polish Academic Championships.
The award was collected in Opole by University of Gdańsk representatives: Vice-Rector for Student Affairs Dr hab. Arnold Kłonczyński; Director of the Physical Education and Sports Section Dr Jan Patok; Deputy Director for Sport at the Physical Education and Sports Section Tomasz Aftański, and Chair of the University of Gdańsk AZS Piotr Walczak.
