Between 21─24 April 2017 Gdynia and Copenhagen hosted the 4th International Baltic Conference on Financial Law entitled “Financial Law and the Challenges of the 21st Century”, organised by the Department of Financial Law of the UG’s Faculty of Law and Administration, the UG’s Centre of Self-Government and Local Financial Law, the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, the Department of Financial Law and Economics of the Faculty of Law of the Masaryk University in Brno and the Regional Accounting Chamber in Gdańsk. The conference was an excellent opportunity for an exchange of views and experiences among representatives of Polish, Czech, Slovak and Russian research centres and practitioners representing, amongst others, the Monetary Policy Council, the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic, the National Chamber of Tax Advisers, the Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and regional accounting chambers. It should be stressed that the conference was interdisciplinary in nature and hosted both the legal and economic sciences.

During the conference the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk was actively represented by Dr hab. J. Gliniecka, full professor, Dr hab. A. Jurkowska-Zeidler, prof. UG, Dr D. Cyman, Dr A. Drywa, Dr. E. Juchniewicz, Dr Ł. Karczyński, Dr P. Panfil, Dr T. Sowiński, M. Mikliński M.A. and numerous doctorate students.

The work of the participants in the conference has resulted in two scientific monographs: Praktyczne i teoretyczne problemy prawa finansowego wobec wyzwań XXI wieku, edited by J. Gliniecka, A. Drywa, E. Juchniewicz, T. Sowiński, CeDeWu, Warsaw 2017 and The Financial Law Towards Challenges of the XXI Century, edited by M. Radvan, J. Gliniecka, T. Sowiński, P. Mrkyvka, “Acta Universitatis Brunensis” 2017, vol. 580.

On 21 April 2017, during the 4th International Baltic Conference on Financial Law, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Department of Financial Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk and the Department of Financial Law, Tax Law and Economics of the Faculty of Law of the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. Parties to the agreement were represented by Dr hab. Jolanta Gliniecka, full professor, and Prof. h. c. prof. JUDr. Vladimír Babčák. The object of the agreement was scientific and didactic cooperation in the broadest sense, related amongst others to the organisation of conferences, publication of scientific work and didactic exchange of employees. It is the second such agreement signed by the Department of Financial Law in recent years. Parties to the first agreement were the Department of Financial Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Gdańsk and the Department of Economics of the Faculty of Law of the Masaryk University in Brno. It is worth stressing that this agreement has had numerous practical effects, including the organisation of the above mentioned 4th International Baltic Conference on Financial Law and the publication of The Financial Law Towards Challenges of the XXI Century, edited by M. Radvan, J. Gliniecka, T. Sowiński, P. Mrkyvka, “Acta Universitatis Brunensis” 2017, vol. 580.
