On 21 September 2016 the Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin appointed 52 scientists for the Council of the National Scientific Congress whose task will be to propose reforms in the new Law on Higher Education. Head of the Council will be Prof. Jarosław Górniak from the Jagiellonian University, and one of its members Prof. Dr hab. Artur Hugo Świergiel from the Faculty of Biology of the University of Gdańsk.
Devising proposals for changes to the so-called Law 2.0 is the main task before the Programme Council of the National Scientific Congress.
“In all this complicated undertaking such as the modernisation of Polish science and Polish universities, the Council will indeed constitute the most important opinion-making body”, declared Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin during the nomination ceremony.
The Programme Council will meet on a monthly basis during programme conferences organised in different cities, which will tackle key issues concerning higher education. The first conferences will be devoted, amongst others, to the internationalisation of Polish science, the development of Humanities and the cooperation between science and business.
