On 16 April 2016, Dr Kamila Bielawska from the UG’s Department of Finance and Financial Risk and Dr Agnieszka Chłoń-Domińczak (Institute of Statistics and Demography, Collegium of Economic Analysis (Warsaw School of Economics/SGH)) presented before the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs at the European Commission (DG ECFIN) the results of a research project financed by the National Science Centre (NCN) entitled “The Retreat from Compulsory Pension Funds in Central-Eastern European Countries as a Reaction to Financial and Fiscal Crisis. Causes, Effects and Recommendations from a Fiscal Regulations Perspective”. The aim of the project was to present a multidimensional appraisal of the causes and effects of the retreat from compulsory pension funds in selected Central-Eastern European countries and to propose changes to current fiscal regulations, so that the pension systems may be appropriately adapted to the challenges related to an ageing population, while at the same time defining their long-term impact on public finances.
A report on the research is available at the web site of the Polish Pension Group (SGH).
