Between 12-13 May 2016 the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdańsk held the first Baltic Festival of Economics, a continuation of the 13-year-old tradition of the Baltic Festival of Science.
We would like to congratulate pupils and teachers who took part in the fun economics activities and to thank academic teachers and students from science circles (the Marine Science Circle, the European Integration Forum Science Circle, the Konsylium Science Circle, the Logistics Science Circle, the International Finance Science Circle and the Behavioural Finance Science Circle) for their huge involvement in organising the Baltic Festival of Economics.
The event, dedicated to the pupils of primary, lower secondary and secondary schools, met with enormous interest as proved by the numbers of visitors to all the events. The events took the form of academic lectures, shows, presentations, competitions, economic games and even theatre productions.
Emotions were plenty, especially among the youngest participants who watched the Baltic sailors with flushed faces. Those slightly older explored the secrets of investing in various markets, of financial fluidity and social welfare and had the chance to find out why packaging contains bar codes and why the carrot is a fruit.
The organisers had prepared prizes for the competition winners in the form of books and interesting gadgets.
