welcome you to the Night of Biologists
i.e. lectures, workshops and shows presenting modern biology
This is the fifth such all-Poland event, to be held on Friday, 15 January 2016. On this day between 13.00 and 20.00, the new Faculty of Biology building will host a number of enthralling lectures, shows and workshops, prepared by students, doctorate students and employees of the Faculty.
Employees of the Municipal Zoological Garden in Gdańsk-Oliwa would like to invite everyone to take part in a night-time walk around the zoo at 17.00, while in Gdynia, also from 17.00 employees of the Gdynia Aquarium will be waiting, ready to take you around the Aquarium’s nooks and crannies.
We have prepared 59 biology-related subjects, which we are planning to present during 124 events. We have scheduled lectures, film screenings, shows, workshops, educational games and contests. Guests will be able to take part as listeners or viewers, carry out experiments, visit laboratories and nature exhibitions or pay a visit to the Zoo or the Gdynia Aquarium. The lecturers will answer the following questions: What happens in our brains when we’re afraid? Who used witch ointment and why? Can we talk to insects? What are the secrets of the bed bug?
What is the beacon tetra? Are bats a good investment? Can you stroke a cockroach? What are macrofungi? On this Friday evening animal and human physiologists, biochemists, molecular biologists, geneticists, ecologists, botanists and zoologists are going to present the world of their research and reveal some biological mysteries.
