Alina Kietrys nominated for Bolesław Prus Award for overall achievement in journalism

The Association of Journalists of the Republic of Poland has announced the nominations for the 2017 Bolesław Prus Award in two categories ─ experienced journalists for overall achievement in the field and young journalists for an exceptional start in the profession. Alina Kietrys M.A. from the Institute of Philosophy, Sociology and Journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences has been nominated for her lifetime achievement in journalism.

For many years the Bolesław Prus Award was the highest and most prestigious distinction awarded to outstanding journalists, who are members of the Association of Journalists of the Republic of Poland. In 2015, after a long pause, the Association resumed the award but with new, modified rules. It may now be presented to journalists from all circles, and members of different journalist associations and organisations. The award comes in two categories ─ the main award for lifetime achievement in journalism (“Golden Prus”) and the award for a young journalist, up to the age of 35 (“Green Prus”).

The jury, chaired by Katarzyna Michalak (the previous winner) and consisting of Prof. Dr hab. Janusz Adamowski, Jacek Żakowski, Dr Tomasz Miłkowski and Secretary General of the Executive Board of the Association Andrzej Maślankiewicz, selected the award candidates.

“GOLDEN PRUS” NOMINEES:

Alina Kietrys, Małgorzata Piekarska, Jerzy Mianowski, Przemysław Talkowski, Grzegorz Sroczyński.

“GREEN PRUS” NOMINEES:

Anton Ambroziak, Małgorzata Domagała, Jakub Jamrozek, Weronika Książek, Rafał Woś.

The results will be announced and statuettes awarded on 29 January.
