In November 2018, a group of youth from a school in Guryevsk, a town in the Kaliningrad Region, visited the University Campus in Oliwa, following an invitation by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and the UG’s Promotion Section. The guests paid a visit to a number of sites on campus, including the Faculty of Biology and its Museum of Amber Inclusions, the Faculty of Chemistry, the Museum of Criminalistics, the EcoPark as well as the Mors Radio and the new television studio.
At the end of the visit, the group took part in a meeting with representatives of the International Office and UG’s Admissions Office in which they learnt about the conditions of paid study at the University of Gdańsk as well as on the ways in which citizens of the Russian Federation may take up free study in Poland.
The youth and teachers from Guryevsk asked many questions on the subject of exams, the required level of Polish and English, student homes and the conditions of being allocated a place in one as well as on student life in the Tri-City. The visit of youth from Russia is the result of contact established by the UG’s Promotion Section during this year’s Festival of Polish Culture in Kaliningrad.
