The University of Gdańsk AZS (Academic Sports Association) team won silver medals during the Polish Academic Cross Country Championships. The competition was held on 24 March 2018 in Siemianowice Śląskie. In addition, a University of Gdańsk student took an individual first place in a 3 km run, winning gold in general classification
Coach Andrzej Cieplik reported: “We will have pleasant memories of Siemianowice Śląskie and the Polish Academic Cross Country Championships held there. Our brave girls Weronika Lizakowska, Agata Stankiewicz, Alicja Misiak, Tatiana Kukiełko, Aleksandra Pochranowicz and Joanna Krawiec ran in the Polish Team Academic Vice-Championship. This is one of the best results for the AZS UG Athletics Section in the past decade. In addition, Weronika Lizakowska became individual Polish Academic Champion in the 3 kilometre run. The male students came sixth in the university ranking, with Wojciech Serkowski winning an additional bronze medal in the university classification. Our university was represented by Błażej Łukaszewski, Paweł Jedynak, Grzegorz Haraburda, Szymon Apollo, Kacper Przekwas and the aforementioned Wojciech Serkowski”.
