The University of Gdańsk has hosted a delegation from the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. The aim of the visit was to discuss extending cooperation between the two universities.
During the visit at the UG Rector’s Office the Vice-Rectors of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Prof. Yury Bialykh and Prof. Henadzi Hachko, as well as UG’s Vice-Rector for Development and Economic Cooperation, Prof. Krzysztof Bielawski, UG’s Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, Prof. Piotr Stepnowski, and the Director of the UG’s Institute of Russian and Eastern Studies, Prof. Diana Oboleńska, discussed the broadening of already existing forms of cooperation (joint publications, didactic internships of staff and exchange of students) through:
The Belarusian guests also visited the UG’s Baltic Campus in Gdańsk-Oliwa. The visit to Prof. Marek Grinberg, Head of the Division of Condensed Matter Spectroscopy at the UG’s Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics met with particular interest. Afterwards, as the visitors acquainted themselves with the potential of the laboratories at the Institute of Experimental Physics, new ideas emerged for marketing the capabilities of young academics in particular on both sides of our common border.

The cooperation agreement between the University of Gdańsk and the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno was signed in 2016.
