Directors of International Offices from 21 universities in Finland visited University of Gdansk on April 24th. The aim of the meeting with UG staff working with international students and programs was to exchange expertise on attracting and retaining talent from Middle East, Africa and Asia. The group discussed sensitive ethical and intercultural issues of dealing with recruiters, language requirements, financial support for non-EU students.
The concept of internationalization at home was analyzed in terms of quality assurance for domestic students. Both Finnish and Polish employers put a lot of pressure on HE institutions to expose their students to diversity, interdisciplinary and multicultural teamwork. UG proudly presented Gdansk Model for Integrating Migrants and innocamps (especially mockathons) as social innovations. Finnish guests were finally given the guided tour of Oliva campus.
