First place for poster by mgr Marta Paszkiewicz-Gawron at 2017 Bioinnovation conference

Mgr Marta Paszkiewicz-Gawron from the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Gdańsk received first prize for the best poster entitled “Installations for Air Disinfection and Cleansing” in a competition organised as part of the poster session at the international conference Bioinnovation 2017. The technology presented in the poster was created as a result of cooperation between the research team headed by Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Adriana Zaleska-Medynska and the company PHU Dytrych Sp. z o.o. from Łódź. The team have been constantly involved in the development of technology and for this reason their new project entitled “Air Deodorisation and Disinfection in Wastewater Treatment Facilities” received funding in October this year as part of a competition organised by the Regional Environmental Protection and Water Management Fund. The main objective of the project is to design, construct and test an innovative device for the deodorisation and cleansing of air streams emitted at wastewater treatment facilities (such as sewage pumping stations or liquid waste storage points) which would be used in limiting the impact of such facilities on the environment.

As part of the Innovation Incubator+ project, the University of Gdańsk Technology Transfer Office established cooperation with the organisers of the Bioinnovation 2017 conference (www.bioinnovation.pl) with regard to UG participation and the opportunity to present the University’s technological offer.

During the conference a dozen or so UG projects were presented, all from the broad field of life sciences. University of Gdańsk researchers were able to obtain evaluation of those projects with potential for implementation. As a result of meetings with industry representatives, researchers had an opportunity to interest investors in their ideas and discover if the ideas match the current needs of the industry sector.

Bioinnovation 2017 is an international event which brings together technology transfer experts, innovative researchers, investors and industry representatives.
