After the information days, foreign students spent their time discovering the city and the region as part of the Orientation Programme.

Thanks to the support of Gdańsk City Council, the students took part in a coach tour of Gdańsk, with photo stops in places which not only document the long history of the city but also afford a glimpse into its modern character. They had a chance to admire the panorama of Gdańsk from the Góra Gradowa (Hail Hill), take a stroll through the Main Town, visit Westerplatte, the Energa Gdańsk Stadium and the European Solidarity Centre where they had a nice surprise and took part in a short meeting with the City’s Mayor Paweł Adamowicz.

The following day was organised by the Erasmus Office and included a visit to the Malbork Castle and the Stutthof Museum in Sztutowo. During a short walk on Stegna beach the students had a chance to swap their impressions.

“How to survive in Polish Culture” was the title of a warmly received lecture by Dr Natasza Kosakowska-Berezecka, to which all foreign UG students were invited. Equipped with some new knowledge on intercultural communication, the participants headed off to take care of administrative matters connected with their studies at the UG. As part of the “Info Day for International and Exchange Students” employees of the International Exchange Section spent an entire day offering help and advice.
