Mgr Aleksandra Kurowska-Susdorf, a PhD doctoral student under Prof. Maria Mendel (at the PhD Pedagogy and Political Science course at the Faculty of Social Sciences, headed by Prof. Tomasz Szkudlarek), has received a prestigious award from the Polish-American Historical Association for her research (on Canadian Kashubians amongst others) presented at the Association’s annual conference.
She is also due to take part in the next conference as a keynote speaker, representing the UG. Mgr Kurowska-Susdorf’s PhD thesis, formally approved by the Council of the Faculty of Social Sciences on 6 June 2013 is entitled "Miejsce śmierci w ponowoczesnym życiu. Edukacyjny potencjał kaszubskich rytuałów okołopogrzebowych" (“Position of Death in Post-Modern life. The Educational Potential of Kashubian Funerary Rituals”).
