The inauguration lecture during the upcoming international conference, the "7th New England Bio labs Meeting on DNA Restriction and Modification" (NEB Meeting), will be delivered by the Nobel Prize winner Sir Richard Roberts. The conference is due to take place between 24-28 August 2015 in Gdańsk, in an auditorium of the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG&MUG on ul. Kładki 24.

NEB Meeting is a conferenceheld every 5-6 yearssince 1988, in different countries, under the patronage of New England Biolabs, a world leader in designing and implementing molecular tools to be used in modern biotechnological laboratories.

Over 100 academics and students from all over the world (including the USA, Japan, China, India, Germany, the UK, Israel, Lithuania, France and Russia) are expected to attend the 5-day conference at which they will present the results of their research.

The scope of research coversa wide range of sciences related to the molecular biology of the restriction and modification of nucleic acids; the biochemistry of the enzymes involved in these processes and widely used in modern biotechnology;thedesign of modern molecular technologies,and epigenetics.

The organisers of the conference are Gdańsk University’s Faculty of Biology, the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG&MUG and the Gdańsk University Development Foundation.

Head of the Organising Committee is Dr hab. Iwona Mruk from the Department of Microbiology at Gdańsk University’s Faculty of Biology.
