The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has announced the fourth list of prize-winners in the “Diamond Grant” project. Among this year’s laureates is a student of the UG and MUG Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology, Angelika Michalak, who wins 199,775 zloty towards her project The Therapeutic Uses of Secondary Metabolites of the Genus Iris: The Effective Isolation, Analysis and Uses of Biologically Active Extracts.
Ms Michalak was one of 78 outstanding students form all over Poland to be recognised. As the Ministry’s website states:
“The merit in winning this competition for young scientists is twofold. It gives them financial independence and the chance to gain experience in their chosen research project under experienced supervisors. It is also an excellent means to fast-track their academic careers and to begin work on a doctoral thesis immediately after their BA or third year of studies”, Professor Lena Kolarska-Bobińska adds.
Ms Michalak plays an active part in the life of the department- she is co-organiser of the biotechnology summer school, head of the Cultural Biotechnology project and is helping to further science.
Warmest congratulations and fingers crossed for a successful project.
